The Duty to take oneself seriously

"There are situations that confront us with the task of taking ourselves seriously. Thus, you should always refuse another's request to humiliate yourself before him, and not only when you don't feel like it. For in doing so, you would have to deny being a person who deserves consideration."
Lorenz Kähler examines whether and how a person owes a duty to himself and whether this duty can be traced back to ethical reasons.
