Polarities in Science –
Looking into the Past

The idea that natural phenomena are determined by opposites that are symmetrically juxtaposed has guided many researchers such as Goethe and Ritter.
This volume explores how even in the 1800s many thinkers searched for symmetries and what can still be learned from them today. Geniuses from Newton to Hegel are illuminated and established results about the eye or UV light are re-examined.
